CrimeWave Solutions (CWS) was created after I discovered a need for  post-academy training pertaining to officer survival and ethics.  This revelation occurred as I supervised new graduates of the police academy.  While the training these new hires received in the short time of 20 weeks of academy time was geared to learning as much as humanly possible, most left for the real world with an extremely crowded brain.  The academy takes ordinary citizens and in the space of a few months completely changes them into what hopefully are street warriors.  In todays climate  this has proven to fall short of what is really needed to work the streets.

As a supervisor in one of the busiest neighborhoods in all of South Florida and possibly the country, I realized that these individuals, while book smart, at times, had a difficult time remembering all the skills thrown at them during the training.  Of course, there were the new hires with military experience or a  martial artist who arrived with a certain discipline, but for the most part, the new hires were not combat veterans.  Really, they are just youngsters, like me when I was hired. 

I was a twenty-two year old, fresh from my parent’s house, now put in a decision making role dealing with all ages and all crisis' of a society in need of help.  What did I know?  The only difference in what I brought to the table was a long introduction to martial arts.  I began my martial arts training at age seven and by the time I entered the academy, I was a strong third degree black belt. 

Back at the academy, the subjects are vast.  There is so much to learn and to practice prior to being deployed into the role of a law enforcement officer. I observed the struggles of the new officers.  Their attempt to fit in and to do the right thing and once they left the protective cocoon of the academy, sometimes there was no help available. With this in mind, I created CrimeWave Solutions based on survival; an ability to survive on many different fronts, in the streets, in the courtroom and within the agency. 

Many of the courses are really just a quick guide, a handy reference reminder.  Officer Survival Mindset is the blending of traditions with technology.  Ethics in Law Enforcement stresses the importance of keeping a job that was difficult to obtain. These are the perfect reminder for the new guy (or girl) as they attend their first roll call.  But I do not forget the veterans.   There are some officers who over the years and for various reasons, begin to lose that needed edge.  While they might not acknowledge this outwardly, inwardly they realize the need for a refresher course.  CrimeWave Solutions provides that and more.
